Job description

Our client, a growing rotating equipment repairs business is seeking an experienced Winder/Electrical Fitter with expertise in rotating equipment repairs. If you have experience working with gearboxes, electrical motors, seals, and alternators, this could be the perfect opportunity for you! The company would also consider candidates from a mechanical background who can be trained within this role.

As an Electrical Fitter, you will be responsible for repairing a variety of rotating equipment, both in the workshop and on-site. Reporting directly to the Electrical Services Manager, you'll work on motors, pumps, fan units, gearboxes, and other electrical equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Repair and maintenance of electrical rotating equipment (motors, gearboxes, pumps, fan units, etc.)
  • Dismantling, fault finding, and reassembly of various motor types (AC, DC, brake motors)
  • Testing and analysing motors and generators both in the workshop and on-site
  • Identifying faults, providing repairs, and conducting post-repair tests
  • Out-of-hours on-call cover (1 week in 4) with generous remuneration
About You:
  • Previous workshop experience in rotating equipment repairs/electrical motor repairs
  • Would consider someone from a mechanical background as full training is given
  • Mechanical maintenance experience would be considered
  • Experience working with motors up to 415 volts and test voltages up to 2kV
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
  • Experience with alternators (preferred but not essential)
  • Car owner/driver (required)
