About the Company

Our client is a well-established engineering and fabrication company specialising in bespoke stainless-steel products for commercial kitchens, catering, and industrial environments. With a strong reputation for precision, craftsmanship, and reliability, they are expanding their fabrication team and looking for an experienced Sheet Metal Fabricator/Welder to join their growing business.

The Role

As a Sheet Metal Fabricator/Welder, you’ll play a key role in producing high-quality stainless-steel and mild-steel components, including drop-ins, sinks, benches, wall cupboards, hot cupboards, pass-through units, and other fabricated equipment. You’ll work from detailed engineering drawings, using both manual and CNC fabrication equipment to ensure accuracy and a high-quality finish.

This role offers a diverse mix of workshop and site-based work, giving you the opportunity to see projects through from start to finish — from fabrication and assembly to on-site installation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fabrication & Welding: Fabricate, assemble, and repair a wide range of sheet metal products. Perform MIG and TIG welding to join and finish metal components. Operate hand and machine tools including guillotine, brake press, rollers, and grinders.
Technical Work

Interpret and work from engineering drawings, cutting lists, and specifications.

Mark out, measure, and cut materials to size with precision.

Select gauges and sheet types according to product requirements.

Drill, punch, and finish components to ensure perfect fit and finish.

Quality & Safety

Inspect each component for accuracy prior to assembly.

Grind, polish, and finish products to a professional standard.

Maintain a clean and safe workspace, adhering to all Health & Safety and PPE requirements.

Follow company quality procedures and complete any required documentation.

Site Work

Attend client sites for measurements, surveys, and installations.

Work closely with the sales and contracts team to assess site conditions.

Carry out on-site installation, repair, or modification of fabricated items.

Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Sheet Metal Worker, Fabricator, or Welder.
  • Skilled in MIG and TIG welding on stainless steel and mild steel.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting fabrication drawings.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication tools and CNC machinery.
  • Good awareness of Health & Safety, risk assessments, and safe working practices.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a small, dynamic team.
  • Flexible attitude towards overtime and occasional out-of-hours work.
Desirable Skills
  • Previous experience within catering or industrial fabrication environments.
  • Knowledge of finishing and polishing techniques for stainless steel.
  • Basic fitting or installation experience.
