MIG Welder / Fabricator – Structural Steel

📍 Location:Thrapston
PAY £16.00-25ph PAYE OR CIS

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced MIG Welder/Fabricator to join our growing structural steel team. This role involves fabricating and welding a wide range of structural components to high standards of accuracy, quality, and safety. You’ll be working from engineering drawings to produce beams, frames, columns, brackets, and bespoke steelwork for commercial and industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • MIG welding structural steel components to BS/EN standards
  • Fabricating frames, beams, and assemblies from technical drawings
  • Measuring, cutting, drilling, and preparing steel sections
  • Operating workshop machinery (saws, drills, grinders, presses, etc.)
  • Ensuring weld quality through visual inspection and correct settings
  • Working safely and maintaining a tidy workshop environment
  • Assisting with loading/unloading and general workshop duties as required
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience as a MIG Welder/Fabricator (structural steel essential)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Strong understanding of welding techniques, weld preparation, and material handling
  • Competent using workshop tools and fabrication equipment
  • High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
  • Relevant welding qualifications or codings (desirable but not essential)
