Job summary

A precision manufacturing company in the United Kingdom seeks a skilled TIG Welder/Fabricator with experience in magnesium and aluminium alloys. Responsibilities include preparing castings, welding, and ensuring quality control. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail and team collaboration skills. This role involves 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a TIG Welder, with the ability to produce clean, precise welds.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and prepare castings prior to welding.
  • Pre-heat castings to required temperature prior to welding.
  • Remove defects indicated in x-ray film.
  • Colour coding of weld rod in accordance with QC processes.
  • Record welds for each casting.
  • Complete other work assignments such as fettling, fabricating, straightening, and setting casting once heat-treated.
  • Communicate suitability of welds/casts to MRB/Finishing Managers.

Overview

Have you previously worked with magnesium and/or aluminium alloys?

Our client are looking for a skilled TIG Welder/Fabricator to contribute to their exceptional projects and and maintain their reputation for delivering top-tier products.

Responsibilities
  • Clean and prepare castings prior to welding
  • Pre-heat castings to require temperature prior to welding
  • Remove defects indicated in x-ray film.
  • Colour coding of weld rod in accordance with QC processes.
  • Record welds for each casting.
  • Complete other work assignments assigned such as fettling, fabricating, straightening, and setting casting once heat-treated.
  • Communicate suitability of welds/casts to MRB/Finishing Managers.
Qualifications

As a Welder Fabricator you will have a working knowledge of:

  • Welding properties of magnesium and aluminium alloys
  • Welding rods
  • Preheat temperature and allowances for the effect of shrinkage, warpage, and expansion.

You will also have:

  • Proven experience as a TIG Welder, with the ability to produce clean, precise welds.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

Hours are Monday-Thursday 7.30am-4pm and Friday 7.30am-1.30pm (38 hours per week).
