In this essential lone‑working role, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking high‑quality meals for the residents and staff in a fixed location, ensuring safe, nutritious, and welcoming environments. This role offers valuable experience working in a residential setting with individuals facing complex challenges.
Responsibilities
- Independently prepare and cook a variety of meals according to scheduled menus for residents and staff.
- Manage your own schedule and kitchen operations, ensuring meals are prepared and served on time with minimal supervision.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and hygiene in all areas, including the kitchen and dining spaces.
- Restock essential kitchen supplies such as ingredients, utensils, and cleaning products.
- Communicate with site staff and other departments as needed, providing updates and ensuring smooth operations.
- Adhere to health and safety protocols at all times, ensuring compliance while working alone.
- Ensure all meals are prepared in accordance with the required nutritional standards for residents.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Age restriction applies – candidates must be over 18 years old and possess a valid photographic ID.
- Previous experience in a cooking or catering role is essential.
- Reasonable knowledge of food safety and kitchen procedures.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills; ability to work independently.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage time and tasks efficiently while working alone.
- The ability to remain self‑motivated and proactive when working without direct supervision.
- A positive, independent, and team‑oriented attitude, with a willingness to follow direction when needed.
Schedule & Compensation
- 12 hours per week.
- Saturday and Sunday 08:00 – 14:00.
- £12.31 per hour.
