The role

As a Waterfront Facility Manager, you’ll take ownership of the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of waterfront facilities and jetties that enable Royal Navy vessels to berth, turn around and return to sea. It’s a role with real purpose: you’ll safeguard critical infrastructure, uphold nuclear site authorisation conditions, and lead a skilled team focused on reliability, availability and continuous improvement—making a tangible contribution to national defence and to your own leadership growth.

Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the operational availability of waterfront jetties, delivering berthing and engineering support services to the customer.
  • Maximise utilisation and efficiency of departmental resources, supporting the Head of Infrastructure Operations.
  • Deliver tasks to agreed cost, time and quality requirements.
  • Motivate and develop waterfront staff to meet objectives and uphold safety standards.
  • Ensure suitably qualified and experienced personnel, and the right equipment, are in place in line with Clyde Safety Management Arrangements.

You’ll be working full-time, 36 hours per week. Monday to Thursday onsite at HMNB Clyde.

Essential experience of the Waterfront Facility Manager
  • Fully conversant with waterfront business and operations.
  • Competent and experienced in managing waterfront procedures and processes.
  • Proven line management experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.
  • Maintenance management expertise.
Qualifications for the Waterfront Facility Manager
  • Degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent).
  • ILM Level 5 (or equivalent leadership qualification).

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
