Job description
Overview

To provide a high quality, prompt and efficient Waste Portering service by removing all waste types (clinical, domestic and old/broken furniture & electrical equipment) from all areas of the Hospital, in an efficient and safe manner. Maintain a clean and safe environment in accordance with the Portering SLA (Service Level Agreement).

Responsibilities
  • Be responsive to the service needs as they arise and constantly seek to improve the productivity and quality of the service.
  • Ensure personal conduct is of the highest standard at all times while on the hospital premises, exhibiting courtesy and efficiency to patients, visitors and users of the service.
  • Drive the Trust’s Electrical Tug as required.
  • When required, assist with the emergency and evacuation procedures.
  • Deal with dynamic changes and unpredictable situations that require immediate attention, patience and a sense of humour.
  • Assume personal responsibility for training and personal and professional development to ensure adherence at all times with departmental operational currencies, procedures and Trust policies and standards, inclusive of signing as having read and understood all Policy & Standing Operational Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure effective staff engagement and communication.
  • Maintain and actively enhance performance standards, supporting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Proactively maintain team cohesion to continuously enhance the capability within the Waste Management Team and the Facilities Department as a whole.
  • Act as a positive role model to peers.
