  • Assist with the transfer of patients in and around the Trust.
  • Transport patient notes from and to wards and departments.
  • Maintain entrances and exits to the premises.
  • Transfer the deceased and accept BIDs.
  • Transport and replace medical gas cylinders.
  • Direct patients and visitors around the Trust.
  • Collect and distribute goods within the Trust.
  • Transport and dispose of waste in accordance with Trust Policy.

Job description

To provide a Portering service in public, patient and staff areas.

Responsibilities
  • Follow NHS guidance and work to the requirements of NHS standards, liaising with departmental and ward managers, housekeepers and supervisors to deliver a patient focused service.
  • Assist with the transfer of patients in and around the Trust.
  • Transport patient notes from and to wards, departments and the medical records library.
  • Maintain entrances and exits to the premises so that they are free from litter, leaves etc.
  • Transfer the deceased and accept BIDs in accordance with agreed mortuary procedures.
  • Transport and replace medical gas cylinders for wards and departments.
  • Direct patients and visitors around the Trust and help with patient, visitor enquiries.
  • Collect and distribute goods within the Trust.
  • Transport and dispose of household, confidential and clinical waste in accordance with Trust Policy.
  • Maintain and clean manual and electrical equipment and report maintenance issues to the supervisor.
