Qualifications

Overview

Warehouse Operative - Assembly at Stead House Distribution Centre, Darlington. Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 6am - 2pm. Total Hours Per Week: 40.

Role purpose

The Warehouse operative plays a key role in ensuring that the customers (stores) orders are picked and packed in a neat, accurate and safe manner to meet daily deadlines. This individual will operate Manual Handling Equipment (MHE) within our safety guidelines to deliver specified KPI standards. This role will report to the Operations Team Leader for Stead House Distribution Centre.

Responsibilities
  • Picking products in line with order requirements
  • Ensuring all agreed daily/weekly work performances are achieved to the required standard as a minimum
  • Maintaining excellent packing and accuracy disciplines
  • Ensuring that all picked stock is clean and undamaged; reporting any issues to your Line Manager
  • Working collaboratively with the team to actively reduce shrinkage
  • Keeping the work area clean and tidy by adopting a "Clean-As-You-Go" discipline (including cleaning up spills, wiping down surfaces, removing waste, and keeping the work area, tools and equipment clean, safe, and free from hazard)
  • Assisting the Operational Team in all aspects of Health and Safety and reporting all accidents/incidents/near misses immediately to your Line Manager

What you’ll need
  • Previous picking experience within a warehouse environment (not essential)
  • Experience of bar code readers (HHT)/Voice picking would be an advantage
  • Flexible approach to performing other duties within the warehouse as requested by your Line Manager
  • High level of numeracy
  • Excellent time and attendance record
  • Good teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work on your own
  • Strong health and safety awareness around the warehouse, adopting the ASW, H&S Values: Always Safe at work; think smart, think safe
