A local government authority in Doncaster is seeking a Waking Nights Officer to provide a safe and caring environment for children with disabilities. Responsibilities include general housekeeping, documentation, and ensuring the safety of children during the night. Candidates must possess good communication and basic IT skills, and complete QCF level 3 within two years. Here in Doncaster we are looking to recruit to our Childrens Residential Homes.
We have a number of vacancies in our homes and are currently seeking to recruit to Waking Night Officer.
The candidate will work under the supervision and advice of the Registered Manager, to work sensitively as a team member in providing a warm caring enabling environment designedto meet the emotional, social and physical needs of children and young people living with disabilities and complex care needs.
Some duties consist of general housekeeping including washing and ironing of the young people clothes, cleaning the home, completing paperwork for children’s files and other clerical tasks. The candidate will be expected to have good communication skills and basic IT skills, be able to work independently with support of a sleeping in member of staff, and complete tasks set out on their shift plan.
The candidate will ensure the discreet oversight of the young people at regular intervals during the night or as directed by the Manager or senior officers.
Ensure that the home is safe and secure and be able to report and liaise with other agencies such as the Police and social care if a young person is missing from care.
The candidate must be prepared to provide cover for other night care officers when on annual leave, training or sick leave. The Registered manager may also offer additional shifts within the day to promote individual training and integrated working across the home.
The candidate will be willing to undertake any training required for the roll and must complete QCF level 3 within two years of enrolment as this is mandatory requirement of children’s homes regulations. The candidate will also be competent to attend training and implement Therapeutic Crisis Intervention .
