We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and professional Waiter/Server to join the team at the Indian Ocean, a well-established restaurant known for its quality food and warm hospitality. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service both in person and over the phone. This position suits someone who thrives in a busy restaurant environment, communicates confidently with customers, and takes pride in maintaining high service standards.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly and provide attentive table service
• Take accurate food and beverage orders in person and via telephone
• Handle collection and delivery orders efficiently, ensuring accuracy and clear communication
• Use POS systems to input orders, process payments, and manage bills
• Serve food and drinks promptly while maintaining presentation and cleanliness standards
• Check in with guests during their meal to ensure satisfaction and handle any requests or concerns
• Upsell menu items and specials to enhance the customer experience and maximise sales
• Maintain cleanliness of tables, service stations, and front-of-house areas throughout shifts
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations at all times
• Assist with basic food preparation or packing orders when required
• Manage time effectively during busy service periods
• Work closely with kitchen and delivery staff to ensure smooth service flow

Experience & Skills

• Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting is preferred but not mandatory
• Strong phone manner with confidence taking orders clearly and accurately
• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional attitude
• Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• Basic maths skills for handling payments and bills
• Knowledge of food safety standards and service procedures
• Experience with upselling and promoting menu items is an advantage
