Volvo Trucks Heavy Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship - VOLVO GROUP UK LIMITED

Overview

This apprenticeship is a Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician standard programme with Volvo Truck & Bus in Bury St Edmunds, IP29 4UQ. As an apprentice, you will learn how to maintain and repair large commercial vehicles to the manufacturers and DSVA standard. The first Volvo truck was born in 1928, and Volvo remains a leading brand with a network of over 85 workshops in the UK and Ireland.

What you’ll do at work

Volvo 2026 apprenticeships are open with start dates May to August 2026. Remit Group Limited is partnered with Volvo Trucks to deliver the HGV Technician apprenticeships. You will work with qualified technicians to repair, service, MOT and maintain modern trucks, buses, and coaches (including hybrid technology). You will receive full equipment and learn to use Volvo tools safely and efficiently, while participating in college courses and development training.

  • Assist with repairs carried out in accordance with Volvo Standard Times using Volvo Special Tools where appropriate.
  • Assist in the fault diagnosis process.
  • Learn and comply with warranty procedures during repairs and with warranty material on completion of a repair.
  • Assist and work with the parts team to ensure correct replacement parts are fitted.
  • Learn how to and use Volvo special tools safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with cleaning the workshop.
  • Ensure company time recording procedures are complied with and that job cards are completed accurately.
  • Report all vehicle defects to the workshop Supervisor.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
  • Attend college courses regularly and achieve required standards.
  • Attend technical or development training made available.
  • Expected apprenticeship duration: 32 months.
  • Apprenticeship level: Advanced level apprenticeship.
Training to be provided

Apprenticeships include time away from work for specialist training and study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Training schedule
Training is delivered in the workplace and on block release at Remit’s Automotive Academy in Derby. There are 16 blocks of 1 week each over the 32-month programme. Employer covers hotel, food and travel costs with no cost to the apprentice.

You will also receive one-to-one support from a Development Coach to help you achieve:

IMI Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Level 3

Essential qualifications
