Volunteer to Career Ward Clerk Support – Emergency Assessment Unit (EAU)

Location: West Cumberland Hospital, Hensingham, Whitehaven (CA28 8JG)

The closing date is 16 December 2025

An exciting opportunity to take part in our Volunteer to Career programme on the Emergency Assessment Unit as a Ward Clerk. EAU is an acute, fast‑paced area admitting, assessing and transferring patients to accommodate emergency admissions. The unit has 27 beds and provides acute care to emergency admissions.

Main duties of the job
  • Answering telephone enquiries (internal and external) and taking messages
  • Welcoming visitors and helping with general enquiries
  • Photocopying and scanning
  • Liaising with departments/staff/other organisations
  • Helping staff and visitors access appropriate resources within the department
  • Going to collect items from other departments when required
  • Other administrative tasks relevant to the individual department following instruction/training

Disclosure and Barring Service
