Job description
Job Purpose

To ensure an appropriate and effective response for children in care and children in need who are at risk of violence and exploitation across the Royal Borough of Greenwich. The post holder will lead a small team of practitioners and drive the development and implementation of violence reduction legislation, policy and practice in line with the Crime and Disorder Act 1998. The role will work collaboratively with multi‑agency partners, deliver community‑based outreach in hotspot locations, and monitor performance to ensure continuous improvement and positive outcomes for young people.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop a small team of practitioners, providing supervision, guidance and professional development.
  • Act as the practice lead for violence reduction, contributing to policy, strategy, audits and improvement plans.
  • Lead and attend multi‑agency panels and meetings (e.g. MACE, Missing, Risk Management Panels).
  • Monitor performance, manage trackers, submit VRU returns and provide regular reports to senior leaders.
  • Deliver specialist advice, training and consultation across Children’s Services and partner agencies.
Person Specification – Essential Criteria
  • Strong experience in safeguarding, youth violence, exploitation or related risk‑based services.
  • Proven leadership experience, including managing staff and driving performance improvement.
  • Advanced risk assessment and risk management skills with complex adolescent cases.
  • Extensive experience of multi‑agency working across statutory and voluntary sectors.
  • In‑depth knowledge of safeguarding legislation, criminal justice frameworks and anti‑discriminatory practice.
