Job description
Role Overview

If you’re a Veterinary Surgeon looking for the next meaningful step in your career, my client in the Liverpool area offers an exciting opportunity to join a warm, ambitious and genuinely supportive team. With an experienced clinical workforce and a practice culture built on collaboration, personal growth and kindness, this is a role where you can truly thrive. The team is one of our biggest strengths. The nurses bring more than four decades of collective expertise from first‑opinion practice, referral settings and charity environments, and they work alongside client care colleagues with twenty years of veterinary customer service experience. The result is a practice where clients feel understood, patients are in safe hands, and clinicians are supported to do their best work. Development is part of an everyday approach, with in‑house training, external CPD and a shared commitment to learning and evolving together. You’ll join a practice that supports you not only as a clinician, but also as a leader and teammate.

Role Expectations

The role itself would suit someone who feels confident handling the full breadth of first‑opinion small‑animal work. You should be comfortable with routine medicine and surgery, able to communicate clearly with both clients and colleagues, and motivated by teamwork. An interest in surgery, or the desire to grow your surgical skills further, would be particularly welcome. Available flexibility includes full‑time or part‑time hours, a fair weekend pattern of one Saturday in four, and no out‑of‑hours duties. Career progression is built into the role, with a structured development pathway and full support for CPD and certificates.

Location and Work Environment

This is a brilliant place to live and work. The practice is situated in the borough of Knowsley surrounded by shops, cafés and plenty of places to unwind during breaks. The town itself has an increasingly vibrant cultural scene, including renowned restaurants and the award‑winning Shakespeare North Playhouse. For downtime, you’re minutes from Knowsley Safari Park and the sweeping grounds of the Knowsley Estate. Liverpool is an easy twenty‑minute train journey, while Chester, Manchester and the wider North West offer everything from city energy to peaceful countryside.

Benefits

You’ll benefit from a strong support network, extensive clinical development opportunities and a generous package that includes a competitive salary, possible relocation bonus, funded professional development, paid memberships. Annual leave increases with service, and a pension scheme, wellbeing initiatives and inclusive working culture ensure you feel valued both personally and professionally.
