Job description

A friendly, independent practice in Windsor are seeking a qualified and dedicated, veterinary nurse to join the team.The role involves carrying out veterinary nursing duties in line with the standards and policies set by the RCVS and the practice, contributing to high-quality animal care, and fostering positive relationships with staff and clients.

Working Hours

Nurses will work according to a published rota prepared by the Head Nurse, which may include weekend and night duties. These hours can vary to meet the needs of the practice. The rota may include shifts such as:

  • Dispense: 8:15 am to 6:00 pm (1.5-hour lunch)
  • Theatre: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • 2nd Ops: 8:00 am to 5:15 pm
  • Kennels: 9:30 am to 6:30 pm
  • Recovery: 7:30 am to 4:30 pm
  • Night Duty: 4:00 pm to 10:00 am

Nurses working night duties or weekends will be provided with a duty room where they can rest but must remain on-call and may need to administer medication or attend to cases overnight.

OOH Responsibilities

The practice partners with Vets Now for out-of-hours care. From the end of consultations to 9:00 pm on weekdays and 5:00 pm on weekends, the on-call nurse will manage calls from clients and may need to contact a vet if required. After these times, all calls will be diverted to Vets Now, but the on-call nurse will be responsible for any existing in-patients.
