The role

As a Vehicle Mechanic, you’ll be a key player in maintaining and repairing the vehicles that support our armed forces. From diagnostics to inspections, your expertise will help ensure our fleet is ready for any mission. This is more than just a job—it’s a chance to contribute to national defence while growing your career in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Day-to-day you’ll be:

  • Servicing, repairing, and maintaining a range of vehicles and electrical equipment
  • Diagnosing faults and conducting inspections to meet production requirements
  • Completing documentation and test certificates to current standards
  • Using issued stores and equipment correctly and returning unused or faulty items
  • Supporting a team-focused environment and adapting to changing needs

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.

Please note that this position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.

This is a full-time, permanent role based onsite at Tidworth. The set working times are Monday to Thursday, 07:00 – 16:45, totalling 37 hours per week. Enjoy a 4-day working week and excellent work-life balance.

Essential experience of the Vehicle Mechanic:

  • Previous experience in a similar mechanical role
  • Experience in a dealership or local garage
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt and build rapport across teams

Qualifications for the Vehicle Mechanic:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Service and Repair or equivalent mechanical qualification
  • Preferred: Ex-REME Class 1 Vehicle Mechanic with current competencies (not essential)
