An elite F1 racing team is seeking an experienced Weekend Model Maker to assemble models and collaborate closely with the Aero department at their Bedford facility. The role involves working on shift patterns, maintaining high-quality standards, and ensuring flexibility to meet the dynamic needs of the F1 program. Ideal candidates will have automotive experience and a strong understanding of model assembly techniques. We are looking for an experienced Weekend Model Maker to be responsible for assembly of the models, preparing parts and assemblies in line with our Aerodynamic program, to enhance the development of our F1 race car and liaising with other Modelmakers, Model design, Mechanical design, Aerodynamicist plus the Additive Manufacturing team to provide parts for wind tunnel testing. They will work at our wind tunnel facility located in Bedford, working alongside members of the model shop team and under the instruction of the duty Aerodynamicist, andwill also encompass working on shift patterns, ensuring flexibility and adaptability to meet the demanding and dynamic needs of our F1 program.
Work with the model shop staff and Aero department, to develop our wind tunnel model and testing program;
To investigate new technologies and concepts for parts and procedures;
Create and maintain a positive and cohesive work environment, to promote growth and progression;
Communicate effectively with external groups such as other sections of the department to ensure that parts are tested on time to the highest quality;
Execute the day-to-day tasks, providing a ‘can do attitude’, to all tasks set with a strong eye for detail;
Manage timelines effectively, to ensure timely delivery of high-class models and parts for our dynamic test program.
To maintain and develop good relationships with all existing staff and support colleagues;
Provide flexible attendance and attitude to work, both in line with the requirements of the role;
To work in a professional manner at all times regardless of the task set and be pro-active in promoting a positive image for the department / team/ sponsors.
