Overview

The appointee will join a team of Urologists at Croydon University Hospital and St George's Hospital for a 12 month fixed term contract and provide general urology services with an interest in Renal Cancer. All consultants are expected to be committed to teaching and to contribute to the undergraduate curriculum. The need for flexibility is acknowledged with potential variation in teaching commitments.

The appointee will join a team of Urologists at Croydon University Hospital (CUH) and St George's Hospital to provide both elective and emergency care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide core urology services at CUH and participate in the on-call rota at SGH.
  • Deliver both elective and emergency urology care.
  • Undertake daily ward rounds and review acute admissions in line with Emergency Standards.
  • Participate in teaching and contribute to undergraduate education, including planning and reviewing teaching, and assessing students (structured where appropriate).
  • Contribute to development of enhanced networks for Urology patients and demonstrate interest and vision in Renal Cancer care.
Contract and Workload
  • Provide 6 programmed activities (PAs) at SGH and 4 PAs at CUH, with on-call duties at SGH.
  • On-call commitments are 1:12, supported by an on-site SpR; a consultant of the week arrangement applies.
  • Normally, DCC (direct clinical care) is 8.5 PAs and SPA (supporting activities) is 1.5 PAs; normally on-site but may be negotiable for SPAs.
On-Call and Working Arrangements

On-call duties will be undertaken at St George's Hospital. Elective work is cancelled during on-call periods.
