Unix / Linux Engineer

Full Time / Permanent. Full-time onsite in Bristol OR Barrow in Furness. Salary £51k + Generous Benefits Package.

Willing / Eligible to undergo SC clearance (sole UK passport holder). Must have resided continuously within the United Kingdom for the last 5 years and hold a sole UK passport.

Your role will involve supporting and maintaining Unix/Linux-based systems, responding to technical issues, performing routine maintenance and patching, and working closely with users to resolve system‑related issues. A strong background in Solaris (10 & 11; ideally 8/9), scripting (Bash or Python), and system troubleshooting is essential.

Key Skills Required
  • Proven experience in Unix/Linux system administration
  • Solaris 10 & 11 (ideally 8/9 also)
  • Scripting in Bash and/or Python
  • Troubleshooting hardware/software/network issues
  • VMware and system monitoring tools (e.g. vROps)
  • Strong customer service and communication skills

Candidates must also be willing to provide on‑call support on a rota basis.
