Overview

Tutor of Engineering: Fabrication & Welding

Hours: 37 hours per week

Salary: Up to £41,313 per annum* (subject to experience and qualifications). Plus generous benefits. These include 57 days annual leave per year (including bank holidays and efficiency closures), Generous Occupational Pension Scheme, and financial support towards a Level 5 teaching qualification if you do not have one (Cert Ed/PGCE) - worth up to £7,000 over two years.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a range of fabrication, welding & potentially engineering units across Level 2 & 3 programmes including apprenticeship standards.
  • Inspire and develop the skills, knowledge and professional behaviours of students and apprentices in fabrication & welding engineering.
  • Deliver across topics such as welding, sheet metal fabrication, pattern development, fabrication & welding principles, Health & Safety, Engineering Communication, and Engineering Maths.
  • Contribute to programme delivery for NVQ 2 Performing Engineering Operations, Level 3 Diploma in Engineering & Technology, Metal Fabricator Apprenticeships, and related qualifications.
  • Bring confidence and experience with a breadth of engineering topics and be able to lead projects/programmes as appropriate.
About the person
  • Minimum of HND in a relevant Engineering discipline, or relevant fabrication & welding industry qualifications and Level 3 experience.
  • Ideally a recognised teaching qualification and assessor/IQA awards, or willingness to work towards these with college funding support.
  • Recent experience in the fabrication/welding sector is advantageous.
  • Experience in leading projects/programmes is beneficial.
