Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Plan driver routes efficiently across the ROI.
  • Own the daily transport schedule and assign SORs.
  • Ensure all delivery requests are met on time.
  • Serve as a contact point for communication between drivers and departments.
  • Work with Sales and Customer Services to address delivery issues.
  • Maintain accurate records and files.
  • Create detailed reports for customers and departments.
  • Manage workload independently.

Transport Planner (Butterfly Shift)

Inclusion IQ is proud to partner with our long-term client, a multi-award-winning company with a rich heritage in FMCG, highly recognised for its innovative green energy solutions, as they seek to appoint an experienced Transport Planner to join their team.

The successful applicant will join a collaborative team where they will be supported and provided with ample opportunities for training, upskilling and progression.

This position requires a butterfly working pattern, which is ideal for someone who values longer blocks of time off for Childcare or social activities. The working pattern needed for this position consists of:

Week One: 6:30 am-6:30 pm Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

The Role

As the transport planner, you will play a vital role in planning driver routes most efficiently and effectively across the ROI.

  • Take ownership of the daily transport schedule by accurately planning and assigning Service Order Requests (SORs) to drivers.
  • Ensure all delivery requests are met efficiently and on time, maintaining a high standard of service for every customer.
  • Serve as the central point of contact, ensuring seamless communication between drivers, customers, and internal departments.
  • Work closely with the internal Sales and Customer Services teams to anticipate and resolve issues that could impact delivery times, keeping everyone well-informed and updated.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with drivers, customers, and colleagues.
  • Maintain meticulous records and files, ensuring that information is accurate and readily available.
  • Create and provide detailed reports and delivery schedules to customers and various internal departments.
  • Proactively manage workload, demonstrate strong initiative, and work with a high degree of autonomy.
The Person

To be considered for this position, applicants must clearly demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Proven experience as a Transport Planner, ideally within a fast-paced logistics or transport environment, dealing with HGV transportation.
  • Strong geographical knowledge of the UK and Ireland is essential for effective route planning.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with drivers, customers, and colleagues at all levels of the business.
  • High level of IT literacy, with the ability to navigate digital platforms and systems, as all operational processes are managed digitally.
  • Solid understanding of current transport legislation and regulations.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to manage your time effectively to adhere to strict timetables and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to proactively identify and resolve operational challenges with a logical and efficient approach.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to working hours and shift patterns to support the operational demands of the business.
