Transport Manager – Lutterworth

Salary: £45,000 - £48,000 (depending on experience)

Shift pattern: 4 on / 4 off, 08:00 - 20:00

Overview

I'm currently recruiting for an experienced Transport Manager to join a well-established general haulage operation based in Lutterworth. This role is pivotal in overseeing compliance, managing day-to-day operations, and leading a dedicated transport team to ensure a safe, efficient, and customer-focused service.

Requirements
  • CPC - Transport Management Qualification (essential)
  • Proven experience managing fleets of 30+ artics and drivers
  • Transport planning background or proven leadership of planning teams beneficial
  • Strong working knowledge of operator compliance and legislation
  • Hands-on management style with the ability to engage and motivate drivers and staff
  • Confident decision maker with strong problem-solving skills
  • Customer-focused with excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines
Responsibilities
  • Manage, develop, and maintain all aspects of the transport operation
  • Ensure full compliance with O-Licence requirements, including effective defect reporting systems and driver records
  • Monitor fleet performance, driver hours, and compliance reports (OCRS, tachograph data, etc.)
  • Oversee driver training and CPC requirements
  • Manage route planning, vehicle allocation, and driver supervision to maximise efficiency
  • Act as the main point of contact for customer service issues, ensuring swift resolution and KPI achievement
  • Maintain procedural accuracy across the transport team and support training/development needs
  • Prepare management reports on performance, costs, compliance, and utilisation
