Job description

Our client based in Shrewsbury is looking for an experienced Transport Manager to join their existing team.

You will co-ordinate the day to day deployment and operation of the passenger fleet services for both adults and children demonstrating an exceptional customer centric and proactive approach.

Duties include:

  • Lead in the co-ordination and monitoring of fleet services, vehicles and staff, liaising closely with the travel team to ensure the smooth running of services.
  • You will deal with operational issues and make appropriate transport arrangements ensuring customer service and safety is seen as a priority.
  • To organise and ensure that adequate cover and contingency arrangements are in place for sickness, leave, breakdowns and any other operational issues including effectively dealing with workplace issues.
  • Provide and promote effective liaison and strong working relationships with stakeholders and other relevant agencies
  • Regularly visit and liaise with drivers and other staff across the County to address any network and transport concerns
  • Organise relevant training for drivers and passenger assistants including ensuring accurate training records are kept.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the relevant elements of transport legislation and of best practice in the passenger transport area as well as dealing with incident reports, safeguarding issues, passenger complaints and queries and liaising with the health and safety team when necessary.
  • Assist with the regular review of the operation of Fleet transport and provide innovative solutions to identify network efficiencies

This is a full-time permanent role w orking 37 hours per week on a shift pattern to cover hours between 6:30am and 6:00pm Monday to Friday with occasional weekends on a rota system . Offering a salary of between £29,000 and £30,000 DOE per annum plus benefits.
