Key Responsibilities
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of delivery drivers.
- Ensure compliance with transport regulations, driver hours, and safety policies.
- Plan and optimise delivery routes for efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate delivery schedules with production and customer service teams.
- Monitor and control delivery costs, fuel expenses, and vehicle maintenance budgets.
- Manage relationships with shipping partners (e.g., Parcelforce, DHL) and oversee international shipping.
- Handle customs documentation and ensure compliance with international trade regulations.
- Analyse delivery performance metrics and implement continuous improvements.
- Resolve escalated customer delivery issues.
- Conduct driver performance reviews, training, and disciplinary procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and produce management reports.
- Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy and properly maintained.
- Oversee driver recruitment and induction processes.
Personal Competencies
- Previous management or supervisory experience in logistics or transport operations.
- Strong knowledge of driving rules and vehicle regulations.
- Experience with route planning and multi-drop deliveries.
- Proven track record in cost management and budget control.
- Experience working with third-party logistics providers and international shipping.
- Strong analytical skills for performance monitoring and process improvement.
- Excellent communication skills across all levels.
- Strong customer service skills.
- IT proficiency with logistics software and Microsoft Office.
- Own transport required due to rural location.
- Full UK driving licence essential.
- Strong geographical knowledge of the UK.
- Eagerness to develop the team and contribute to growth objectives, including international expansion.
Hours of Work
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (flexibility required).
