Transport Manager

Location: Bedfordshire
Salary: £45,000 – £52,000 per annum
Hours: 10:00 – 19:30
Shift Pattern: Tuesday to Saturday
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

Are you an experienced Transport Manager who thrives on leading people, driving performance, and keeping safety and compliance front and centre? Do you have the confidence to motivate a team, the knowledge to manage transport legislation, and the communication skills to build strong relationships at all levels?

As Transport Manager, you’ll play a critical role in managing transport operations, ensuring compliance, most importantly leading and developing your team.

You’ll recognise great work, keep your people motivated, and work towards shared goals of delivering an outstanding service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading, coaching, and developing the transport team to reach their full potential
  • Communicating openly and consistently, delivering key messages at the right time
  • Managing recruitment, absence, performance, conduct, safety, and service standards
  • Ensuring full compliance with transport legislation and operational procedures
  • Overseeing commercial vehicles, cages, pallets, and PPE
  • Managing vehicle checks, servicing, MOTs, VORs, temperature checks, and near-miss reporting
  • Allocating work effectively, considering legal driving hours and individual/team capability
  • Carrying out thorough, high-quality investigations when required
  • Promoting and managing a strong safety culture at all times
  • Acting as a role model for company values, particularly during challenging periods
