Our transport team plays a vital role in ensuring that operations run smoothly and in line with all regulatory requirements. We take pride in creating a supportive working environment where people are valued, developed, and encouraged to grow.

We are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Transport Coordinator to support the smooth running of our transport operation in Spennymoor.

This role is key to ensuring compliance, maintaining accurate records, and supporting both drivers and management in all aspects of transport activity.

Your role will involve:

  • Plan, schedule, and maintain transport systems and operations.
  • Oversee full operational transport compliance, including defect reporting, gate checks, and ADR equipment checks.
  • Conduct daily documented driver debriefs.
  • Ensure driver cards and vehicle data are uploaded to the Trutac system in line with company policy.
  • Check and cross-reference driver timesheets with Trutac download information to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle and driver files, update wall planners, and keep all online records up to date.
  • Organise and manage transport requirements for disposal outlets.
  • Control, order, and issue PPE and transport-related equipment.
  • Assist in investigations into transport-related incidents and prepare reports.
  • Support the Transport Manager with supplier invoice checks and the issue of purchase order numbers.
  • Ensure all vehicles are registered with relevant toll, road charging, and permit schemes.
  • Assist with driver recruitment, training, and ongoing development.
  • Maintain reports and take action as required, including checks on fuel receipts, accident forms, vehicle defects, and service/inspection requirements.

What we are looking for

  • Strong organisational and planning skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good knowledge of transport compliance requirements and systems (experience with Trutac would be an advantage).
  • Confident communicator able to work effectively with drivers, suppliers, and management.
  • Proficient in maintaining accurate records and using computer-based systems.
  • Ability to work independently while also supporting the wider transport team.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving with the ability to manage multiple tasks at once.

You’ll be part of a team where your contribution is valued and where compliance and safety are at the heart of operations. We offer a supportive workplace, opportunities for development, and the chance to make a meaningful impact in an essential area of the business.
