Overview

Trainee Service Technician

Our client, who deals in protective equipment based at the heart of Telford, is looking for a full-time temporary to permanent trainee service technician to add to their highly skilled and passionate workforce.

You will be working on servicing and repairs, repairing the service equipment under the supervision of your team leader (progressing to working on your own). You will be performing planned service (and preventive) maintenance, emergency repairs to equipment in the workshop or out at customer site, and carrying out product upgrades by visiting the customer site, contacting people in the workshop on the phone and by telephone and e-mail.

Now the administration part of the role… you will be accepting the goods arriving for service and repair, documenting and recording the performed service and repair undertaken, service order processing and packing and dispatch of goods and returns.

Responsibilities
  • Service and repair equipment under supervision, progressing to work independently.
  • Perform planned service and preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs at workshop or customer sites.
  • Carry out product upgrades by visiting customer sites and communicating with colleagues by phone and email.
  • Accept goods arriving for service and repair, document and record the work carried out.
  • Process service orders and manage packing and dispatch of goods and returns.
Ideal Candidate / Qualifications
  • Experience working within a service/maintenance technician role.
  • Happy to travel away for periods (often up to a week), nationwide; paid accommodation and meals provided; flexibility required.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Computer literate; fluent in English.
  • Forklift licence (beneficial, but training will be given).
  • Ability to learn new tasks quickly; efficient and structured; team player; flexible; good communication skills; solution oriented.
Working hours

36.5 hours

  • 8:30 – 17:00, Monday – Thursday
  • 8:30 – 16:00, Friday
