Overview

Campden BRI offer microbiology analytical testing and consultancy services, including: analytical testing, safety and spoilage, molecular and microbiology methods, emerging microbiology, brewing microbiology research, industrial heat process microbiology and quality laboratory audit.

Microbiology - Central Preparation Unit

The Microbiology Department comprises around 50 staff from a wide range of disciplines. It provides essential services to industry through a wide range of contract and research activities. The department is organised into seven operational sections: Industrial Process Microbiology, Microbiology Analytical Services, Microbiological Risk Assessment, Microbiological Safety & Spoilage, Molecular Microbiology & Methods, Brewing Microbiology and Emerging Microbiology. The Central Preparation Unit is at the hub to support all activities with an essential supply of media, consumables, and decontamination of waste.

Monday- Friday 8.45am- 5.15pm, 6 month temporary role.

You must live locally & have your own transport to reach our site to be considered.

Position
  • To be responsible for the Microbiology Department media QC programme
  • Undertaking data analysis and trending media QC data reporting findings to CPU & Purchasing Manager
  • Troubleshooting of alerts and failures
  • To conduct media commissioning on new media
  • To maintain the QC culture collection, and provide the QC working slopes
  • To be responsible and carry out preparation and sterilisation of microbiological media, reagents and supplements
  • To co-ordinate work requirements and communication with the labs and Manager
  • Carrying out regular routine calibration of CPU lab equipment (pH meter, water conductivity, balances, measuring cylinders)
  • To be responsible for the organisation & decontamination of laboratory waste
  • To assist with media preparation (where required)
Requirements
