Trainee Estimator

Due to continued growth, my client is seeking a Trainee Estimator to join their team in Horsham.

This is a great opportunity for someone who’s enthusiastic about developing a career within mechanical estimating, project support, or engineering.

The Role

As a Trainee Estimator, you’ll support the estimating team in preparing accurate costs & tenders for mechanical & pipework projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting in the preparation of mechanical bids, tenders, & cost estimates
  • Analysing technical drawings & specifications to help prepare project estimates
  • Using Cypher estimating software (full training is provided)
  • Liaising with internal & external engineers, consultants, & subcontractors
  • Supporting the estimating team to resolve design & costing queries
  • Contributing to the overall project planning & pricing process
  • Attending occasional site visits to gain real-world project experience
The Candidate

No previous estimating experience is required – full training will be provided over a 2-year period. What matters most is your enthusiasm, curiosity & willingness to learn.

  • Strong communication skills & the ability to work well as a part of a team
  • Good Excel & general computer skills (experience with data or analysis is a plus)
  • A logical, detail-oriented mindset
  • The ability to manage your own workload & work on your own initiative
  • An interest in mechanical systems, construction or estimating
