Responsibilities

  • Preparation and maintenance of existing tooling according to requirements.
  • Identify day-to-day tooling issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Clean all production tooling to ensure on-time delivery and schedule adherence.
  • Ensure all tooling is safe and production-ready, following correct preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Notify the supervisor if assignments cannot be completed as planned.
  • Support engineering changes and maintenance of spare parts.
  • Prepare and test tools by laying out, setting up, and machining.
  • Design and make tools or templates to produce prototype parts.
  • Verify conformance of machined or repaired tools to specifications.
  • Fabricate parts for plant machines and tools as required.
  • Fit and assemble parts, then test completed tools for proper operation.
  • Set up and monitor tools, performing inspections before removing tooling from machines.
  • Follow up on repair work by gathering feedback from production and quality departments.
  • Promote the company's HSE policies across the department and plant.

Tool Maker - Double Days

A recognized high-volume manufacturer is currently looking to strengthen their Tooling department with the appointment of a Tool Maker.

Location: Manufacturing facility in Shropshire

Responsibilities:

  1. Preparation and maintenance of existing tooling according to requirements.
  2. Identify day-to-day tooling issues and implement corrective actions.
  3. Clean all production tooling to ensure on-time delivery and schedule adherence.
  4. Ensure all tooling is safe and production-ready, following correct preventative maintenance (PM) procedures.
  5. Notify the supervisor if assignments cannot be completed as planned.
  6. Support engineering changes and maintenance of spare parts.
  7. Prepare and test tools by laying out, setting up, and machining.
  8. Design and make tools or templates to produce prototype parts, including generating bill of materials and completing fabrication and validation.
  9. Verify conformance of machined or repaired tools to specifications by checking dimensions, clearances, and alignments.
  10. Fabricate parts for plant machines and tools as required.
  11. Fit and assemble parts, then test completed tools for proper operation.
  12. Set up and monitor tools, performing inspections before removing tooling from machines.
  13. Follow up on repair work by gathering feedback from production and quality departments, and record work undertaken.
  14. Promote the company's HSE policies across the department and plant.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum of an Apprenticeship qualification.
  • Familiarity with die casting processes.
