Job summary

An NHS hospital in Milton Keynes is looking for a Therapy Educator Assistant Practitioner to join the Therapy Practice Education Team on a fixed-term basis. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in therapy assistance and a strong dedication to compassionate patient care. Overview

Therapy Educator Assistant Practitioner

Department: Inpatient Therapies

Band 4 £27,485 - £30,162 per annum

Full-time 37.5hrs per week, 7 day working. All MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working.

We are offering 2 fixed-term contract opportunities for 9 months each to join our growing Therapy Practice Education Team as a Therapy Educator Assistant Practitioner. Previous experience as a Therapy/Rehab Assistant or Assistant Practitioner is essential.

In this role, you will work with the Therapy Practice Education Team and Therapy colleagues on wards to develop resources to support robust delegation practices that drive enhanced access to prevention of deconditioning and re-ablement for patients. You will also support clinical teams as a Therapy Assistant Practitioner where required, within your personal scope of practice, including developing and implementing ward-based group activity protocols.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Therapy Practice Education Team on wards to develop resources that improve delegation, prevention of deconditioning, and re-ablement.
  • Support clinical teams as a Therapy Assistant Practitioner when required, within your scope of practice.
  • Develop and implement ward-based group activity protocols.
  • Facilitate staff development to enable practitioners to become competent through teaching, supervising, coaching, and supporting in both classroom and clinical practice.
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Develop and implement treatment programmes for appropriate patients.
  • Provide supervision as required to Therapy HCAs and students.
Clinical
  • To undertake assessment, treatment and discharge of appropriate patients as delegated by a registered physiotherapist (PT) or Occupational Therapist (OT), adhering to departmental guidelines & protocols.
Personal & People Development
  • Maintain own competency to practice through CPD activities and maintain a portfolio reflecting personal development.
Communication
  • Instruct patients and carers by providing direction and guidance on therapy programmes. Encourage an active approach to regaining and maintaining personal independence using empathy, sensitivity, and good interpersonal skills.
