Location: Near Potters Bar
Salary: £32,000 - £38,100 per annum
Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday with 1:5 weekend on-call duties (part-time considered)

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join the Theatre department at a leading hospital. Theatre nurses play a critical role in patient care, working closely with veterinary specialists, managing surgical kits, handling peri-operative imaging, maintaining records, and scrubbing into surgeries when required. This role also includes teaching and assessing veterinary students, making it ideal for an RVN with a passion for mentoring and professional development. The successful candidate will benefit from working in a state-of-the-art hospital with access to cutting-edge surgical equipment and procedures, ensuring exposure to highly complex and rewarding cases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting in surgical procedures, including scrubbing into surgery when required.
  • Acting as a circulating nurse, managing surgical kits, handling imaging, and maintaining patient records.
  • Training and supervising veterinary & veterinary nursing students in theatre-based procedures.
  • Working within a multidisciplinary team to provide the highest level of peri-operative care.
  • Participating in on-call duties (1:5 weekends) with protected time off in lieu.

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RCVS) with strong hospital or referral experience.
  • Previous experience in surgical nursing or theatre-based roles is highly desirable.
  • Clinical Supervisor qualification (or willingness to undertake training).
  • Passion for teaching and mentoring students in a practical learning environment.
  • Ability to work efficiently within a fast-paced, high-standard hospital.
