Overview

Test Development Engineer

Location: Stevenage
Duration: 6-Month Contract
Rate: £50 p/h Umbrella
We seek an engineer who has worked in a military / defence environment / industry within the last 12 months or who is capable of obtaining security clearance (SC level minimum)

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Test Development Engineer to join our clients Test Equipment Hardware Design Capability team. This role involves supporting the design, integration, and validation of hardware solutions for test systems, working across the full product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define, design, and develop test equipment hardware in line with quality and technical standards.
  • Support integration, validation, and verification of hardware solutions.
  • Conduct design proving, performance, environmental, and EMC testing.
  • Specify test approaches and identify improvements to diagnostic processes.
  • Collaborate on project planning, risk management, and quality assurance.
  • Produce technical documentation to support in-service products.
  • Provide engineering support for bids and business opportunities.
  • Manage and deliver work packages, including cost and schedule control.
Essential Skills
  • Strong background in test equipment development and electronic hardware design.
  • Experience with test methods across product development lifecycles.
  • Knowledge of qualification testing, including environmental and EMC.
  • Experience managing work packages and delivering to deadlines.
Desirable Skills
  • Background in defence or aerospace sectors.
  • Experience in requirements management and design validation tools.
  • Leadership or mentoring capability within engineering teams.
Working Pattern
  • Monday Friday, hybrid (50% onsite).
  • Limited UK travel.
