JOB TITLE: Housing Officer - Tenancy Management

Pay rate: £19.61 per hour PAYE
Contract Type: Temporary, Anticipated 6 months
Working Arrangement: Hybrid working, with 4 days in the office
Basic DBS is needed for this role. Valid full UK driving licence.

The role

On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Housing Officer to manage a patch of properties covering everything from tenancy management (including breach of tenancy), income collection, estate inspections, calling residents, resolving issues, providing advice, plus sign up and viewings etc. It is essential that you have previous tenancy and income experience in social housing along with knowledge of the Orchard Housing Management System, in order to apply for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce Income Management Policy through proactive engagement, pre-court visits, and eviction attendance.
  • Pursue rent arrears via home visits (including out-of-hours), securing reductions and advising on financial support.
  • Support rent accounting service delivery, including direct debit administration.
  • Provide welfare reform advice to promote tenancy sustainment.
  • Maintain Pre-Tenancy Service to encourage a payment culture.
  • Deliver excellent, value-driven service ensuring well-presented and maintained properties.
  • Ensure customer-focused, responsive services by working with Tenant Participation Groups, including evening meetings.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to anti-social behaviour and tenancy breaches with clear action plans.
  • Conduct pre-letting visits, viewings, and sign-ups while promoting tenancy sustainment and responsibility.
What the client is looking for

  • Substantial experience of working in a Social Housing environment
