Job description
Overview

Temporary Works Structural Engineer – Esher, Surrey – £50k-£75k per year. A well established specialist Temporary Works Design Consultancy is looking for an experienced temporary works design engineer to join their proficient team at their head office in Esher. The consultancy has around 70 staff and operates as the in-house design arm for a major contractor while also managing external projects.

You would need to be a highly technical, hands-on structural engineer with a CV showing significant experience across a range of building structures and leadership roles. Ideally, you will be MICE or MIStructE qualified. Geotechnical knowledge would be useful. You must have the full right to work in the UK and live within commuting distance.

The role will include some permanent works design and geotechnical works. You will be exposed to a wide variety of challenging projects, including large building designs, often involving high profile and complex schemes. Activities may include demolition works, needling and propping, façade retentions, foundation designs, stability and alteration works, basements, geotechnical works and some permanent works. The role is varied and suit a driven candidate with a practical, problem‑solving mindset. Excellent communication skills and English are essential.

The emphasis is on high-quality design solutions in a contractor-led, often reactive environment, so you should be a clear thinker who can work in a fast-paced setting and lead from the front. The firm places a strong value on having highly qualified staff and delivering expert solutions to clients.

In addition to base salary there is 25 days of holiday, pension, healthcare, a bonus scheme, socials and one day of work from home if desired.
