Overview

Our Power T&D business delivers essential energy projects across the UK - and right now, we're recruiting a Temporary Works Coordinator to support high-profile works in South West, including: Major infrastructure activities at Bramford Substation (4YB) and Twinstead Tee (4YH) - key locations in the National Grid transmission network; The Apollo project - a significant substation and network upgrade supporting the UK's transition to a low-carbon future.

Your Role: You'll lead and coordinate temporary works across these critical project sites, ensuring they are designed, installed, maintained, and dismantled in line with BS5975, CDM regulations, and Balfour Beatty's safety-first standards. As Temporary Works Coordinator, you will oversee and manage all aspects of temporary works needed to enable safe and efficient construction. Working on the BTNO project - a nationally significant project designed to improve energy resilience and support the UK's net zero ambitions - you will ensure all temporary works are: properly planned, designed, and implemented; inspected and maintained throughout their use; dismantled or removed in a safe and controlled manner.

You'll play a key role in ensuring compliance with legal, industry, and company standards across a high-profile programme of works in and around Ipswich and the East Anglian region.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Act as the temporary works lead on the BTNO project and other supporting sites
  • Liaise with Temporary Works Designers, Principal Designers, and site teams
  • Maintain the Temporary Works Register and ensure all required checks are completed
  • Review and approve temporary works designs in line with BS5975
  • Drive a safety-first culture, ensuring all temporary works are safe, compliant, and fit for purpose
  • Provide practical support and engineering input across multiple sites when required
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and Balfour Beatty procedures
Qualifications
  • HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, or similar
  • Recognised Temporary Works Coordinator training and certification
  • Experience managing temporary works on major infrastructure or power projects
  • In-depth knowledge of BS5975 and temporary works best practices
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Willingness to travel across the UK as part of a flexible, dynamic project delivery team
