Manufacturing Team Leader

Sunday - Thursday Nights 22.00 - 06.00

Wigan - Temp - Perm

£17.00 - £17.50 per hour

What You'll Do

As a Manufacturing Leader, you will be responsible for ensuring your production line runs safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. Your responsibilities will include:

Operations & Performance
  • Lead and manage production staff on shift to ensure optimal labour utilisation
  • Oversee machine set‑up, start‑up, shutdown and safe operation
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and engineering issues, completing minor repairs and electrical resets
  • Ensure production output meets the daily schedule and SFOL requirements
  • Maintain accurate production records and stock transactions
  • Drive line efficiency, speed and utilisation in line with KPI targets
  • Escalate issues impacting output or quality when required
  • Support scheduled maintenance and identify engineering needs
  • Contribute to reducing waste, consumption loss, seconds and downtime
Safety & Quality
  • Champion a safe working environment and enforce all company safety procedures
  • Ensure all guarding, interlocks and safety systems are operational
  • Conduct and record regular quality checks, investigate issues and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain a clean, audit‑ready environment at all times
  • Act as Fire Marshall for your section
People Leadership
  • Lead, motivate and develop your team to achieve goals and drive continuous improvement
  • Conduct return‑to‑work interviews and support absence management
  • Train team members on SOPs, SSOW, H&S processes and production procedures
  • Recruit, onboard and upskill staff as required
Skills & Experience
  • Experience operating or leading in a production or manufacturing environment is essential
Mechanical Aptitude and Basic Engineering Knowledge
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate quilt and pillow production equipment (including fibre feed, blending lines, sewing machines, packers etc.)
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
