Overview

The School of Natural Sciences is one of the largest Schools in the University of Chester, delivering a wide range of programmes for students at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate level.

Role

We are seeking to appoint a Technician Demonstrator to join the School’s Technical support team. This role provides specialist technical support for postgraduate students within the School of Natural Sciences, with a focus on stem cell biology, biotechnology, and related disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials and reagents for taught postgraduate level classes.
• Provide technical instruction for student research projects in line with academic staff requirements.
• Assist the Laboratory Manager and technical team in supporting students working in School laboratories.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Experience of techniques and skills in stem cell biology and/or biotechnology.
• Experience working in a laboratory research environment (essential).
• Undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences or closely related field.
• Postgraduate degree or equivalent relevant experience advantageous.
• Previous experience providing technical support or training in a laboratory setting.
• Familiarity with setting up and using a wide range of biological lab equipment.
• Advantageable previous experience as demonstrator in laboratory classes.
