Rolling Stock Technician – Manchester

Location: Manchester

Team Structure: 3 Technicians + 1 Team Leader

Shift Pattern: 5 days on, 5 off → 2 days, 3 nights → 5 off → 4 nights → 4 off (repeating)

Interview Process: One-stage face-to-face

About the Role

We're looking for a proactive and skilled Rolling Stock Technician to join the fast-paced team in Longsight, Manchester. This role has opened due to an internal promotion, and someone is needed to help maintain our high standards and keep operations flowing.

Responsible for corrective maintenance and repairs across electrical, mechanical, onboard, and safety systems. Expect hands-on fault finding at component level using wiring diagrams, schematics, and data interpretation tools. Working on-site with the client, navigating CAF-specific onboard systems and digital work recording platforms.

You'll be working on cutting-edge trains, tackling everything from electrical and mechanical systems to onboard diagnostics and safety-critical repairs. With access to CAF\'s proprietary data systems and work platforms, you\'ll be at the heart of keeping our fleet running.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform corrective maintenance and repairs on rolling stock systems

  • Prioritise in-service failures and adapt to shifting workloads
  • Use CAF-specific systems for data logging and work tracking
  • Collaborate with a close-knit team and interface directly with clients
