A leading health NGO in the United Kingdom is recruiting for a Technical Officer to support malaria vaccine delivery in Uganda. This role requires a Medical or Nursing Degree and at least 5 years of experience in malaria programs. Job description

Malaria Consortium is recruiting for a Technical Officer to joinour team in Moroto, Uganda. The role of the Technical Officer (TO) is to ensure the effective on-site delivery of Malaria Vaccine and other vaccine activities across the 9 districts of Karamoja, aiming to achieve the highest coverage of all recommended doses. The TO will ensure timely planning, implementation of activities, bearing in mind program targets. The postholder will interacts with the relevant stakeholders, ensures implementation is aligned with approved project proposal and keeps them updated on the program progress. The postholder would plans joint efforts with relevant stakeholders, including immunization officers and other key stakeholders, and ensures their implementation.

The Technical Officer – Vaccines will support the development and implementation of key vaccine-related programs developed to support the EPI and malaria programs in Uganda. The role will support in the coordination of the malaria vaccine roll out activities. Other potential areas of engagement could include : zero-dose children identification, future vaccine introductions, community engagement for EPI services, etc.

  • Medical / Nursing Degree or a degree in public health with master’s in public health.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience implementing malaria and or immunization programs
  • Experience in training and mentorship of health care workers on vaccine management and malaria control.
  • Previous work with development agencies, NGOs.
  • Experience in the planning and implementation of communicable disease control / malaria control interventions, behavior change communication initiatives / health education, health worker trainings and supportive supervision of health workers
  • Experience in capacity building / transferring of skills in health services.
  • Experience in working closely with and engaging with local governments
  • Experience in developing work plans and activity budgets and in following work plans with minimal supervision
  • Thorough understanding of EPI activities.
  • Familiarity with the strategies, structures and guidelines of the Uganda National Expanded Program on Immunization (UNEPI) and National Malaria Elimination Division
  • Experience in training of health supervisors
  • Previous community mobilization experience.
  • Strong writing and organizational skills for writing case studies, documenting lessons learnt and reporting on program results.
  • Experience in using participatory adult learning techniques
