We are currently recruiting on behalf of a long-established and growing manufacturing group for an experienced Technical Manager to join their team. With over 55 years of industry expertise and a recent acquisition expanding their reach, this group operates multiple manufacturing and distribution companies both in the UK and internationally.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven and knowledgeable Technical Manager with experience in passive fire protection products, such as fire stopping solutions and fire doors. The role also requires a flexible mindset, as the product range extends well beyond fire protection.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of new products and technical solutions across multiple business units.
  • Ensure all products meet relevant regulatory and compliance standards.
  • Manage the testing and certification process, including external fire tests and internal trials.
  • Maintain up-to-date product certifications and documentation.
  • Support product design and development, with CAD assistance from the engineering team.
  • Provide technical guidance to internal sales teams and external customers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, partners, and certification bodies.
  • Represent the business at industry events and contribute to future regulatory direction.
  • Stay informed on trends and innovations across the sector.
  • Lead the transition from BS 476 Part 22 to EN 1634-1 standards for Fire Doors (UK).
  • Support business development activities, particularly within the passive fire protection division.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Technical Manager or similar technical leadership role.
  • Strong technical background in passive fire protection (fire stopping, fire doors, etc.).
  • Proven experience with testing, certification processes, and liaison with notified bodies.
  • Experience in product design and development.
  • Relevant Passive Fire Protection qualifications (desirable).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally across teams.
  • Confident managing multiple projects and shifting priorities.
  • Keen interest in manufacturing processes and working collaboratively with engineering teams.
  • Able to learn and understand new product areas beyond passive fire protection.
