Tech Lead (Backend)

6 Month Contract | Outside IR35 | Fully Remote (UK) | Up to £650/day | Active SC Clearance Required

I’m working with a fast-growing engineering team who are looking for a Tech Lead (Backend) to join them on a 6-month contract, fully remote and Outside IR35. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll guide backend engineering, set technical direction, and help shape scalable, production‑grade systems. You must hold active SC clearance to be considered.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead and mentor the backend engineering team
• Set coding standards and make key architectural decisions
• Work closely with cross‑functional stakeholders to refine product requirements
• Build and maintain backend services & APIs (Python preferred; Node.js a bonus)
• Ensure high code quality, scalability, and reliability across all backend services
• Create and review technical specifications for major system components
• Contribute to AI‑driven features and system design (AI experience beneficial)

What We’re Looking For
