Job description

It is an exciting time to be joining our Port Health Team as we transform our services. We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the East Suffolk Council's Port Health Team as a Technical Lead Product of Animal Origin.

Your role

You will be the Technical Lead in relation to legislation relevant to the Port Health authority. Your responsibilities will include providing legislative advice, completing technical audits, designing policies and procedures, training and ensuring the Port Health Authority is looking for ways to continuously improve in addition to legislative requirements.

  • A Shift Allowance equivalent to 7 % of your base salary will be paid to recognise that you work over the range of the opening hours of the Port Health facility (currently 0700-1900 hours).

What You Will Need

You will have extensive technical and legislative knowledge and understanding of the Port Health legislative framework. You will need experience of import controls on Products of Animal Origin (POAO). You will also have substantial experience working in a technical port health role, as well as a degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in Environmental Health or Veterinary Science.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate and work in alignment with our values and be empowered to make decisions to enhance procedures and practices in line with government legislation.
