CJP Outreach Services are currently recruiting for an experienced team leader to help lead a team, of staff supporting people with complex needs in one of our services in Bristol

For this position it is essential that you have a background in supporting people with complex needs such as Autistic Spectrum Condition, Learning Disabilities and Mental Health needs. Ideally, your experience will be in community settings, such as supported living and / or residential care. Knowledge of working within a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework would be an advantage.

As 1 of 2 Team Leaders, you will play a pivotal role in leading a team of staff to provide support to 4 adults living in a supported living service near St. Georges in Bristol. The role will include a blend of providing direct support to the people living in the service, coaching and supporting the staff team, and working closely with the service management team to develop and oversee the delivery of excellent care within the service.

You will be responsible for providing leadership to support staff within the service including supervising staff, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and following best practice. You will work closely with the Service Manager to maintain standards and enhance the wellbeing and quality of life of the people we support.

The ideal candidate should be competent and professional in their approach. Have the ability to remain calm and work well under pressure.

Key Duties
  • Ensure the needs and preferences of the people we support are central to the planning and implementation of the support we provide them.
  • Implement Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies to improve quality of life and reduce behaviours of concern.
  • Collaborate with the person, their families and those that are important to them to co-produce tailored support plans that meet their needs and aspirations.
  • Organise and coordinate delivery of support and maintain and develop effective working relationships with the team.
  • Supervise staff to ensure an efficient team who contribute to service improvements.
  • Promote and protect the welfare and rights of the people we support
  • Contribute to the auditing of medication records, support documentation, and financial records, and recommend and implement improvements as needed.
  • Complete assessments, draft support plans, and develop related documentation in compliance with best practice and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in personal and professional growth opportunities, including training and supervision of staff.
  • Work closely with the people we support, their families, your colleagues, external professionals, and other agencies to ensure holistic care for the people we support.
  • Contribute to the services out-of-hours, on-call support arrangements on a rolling rota.
  • Provide occasional out-of-hours support, sleep-in cover and weekend support.
Qualifications and skills
  • Previous experience in a similar environment, ideally in a leadership role.
  • Experience supporting people with complex needs such as Autistic Spectrum Condition, Learning Disabilities and Mental Health needs.
  • Experience of working within a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework would be an advantage.
  • Experience of rota planning and shift leading.
  • Knowledge and experience of performance management.Understanding of person-centred support.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to adapt.
