Team Lead - Reporting

Hybrid - 2 days per week onsite in Abbey Wood, Bristol
Full Time, Permanent
Salary - £50k-£55k dependent on experience

We're seeking a Team Lead - Reporting to join our Armed Forces Recruitment Services (AFRS) contract. This is a key role within the Data Management & Insight function, responsible for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of reporting and data presentation services that drive operational excellence across Defence recruitment.

You’ll lead a team to build rich, interactive dashboards and business reports that support strategic, contractual, and operational objectives helping to shape a data‑driven culture across Serco and the MOD.

As part of this you’ll:
  • Design and implement enterprise‑level reporting solutions that meet the needs of internal stakeholders and MOD clients.
  • Translate complex business requirements into intuitive dashboards and actionable insights using tools such as Power BI, SQL, Domo, Excel, and more.
  • Lead the development of functional roadmaps in consultation with stakeholders across AFRS, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Champion best practices in reporting, data visualisation, and data governance.
  • Act as a strategic partner to business and functional leads, helping them define what, why, and what‑if scenarios with data‑driven clarity.
  • Mentor and guide the business in self‑service reporting, enhancing capability and reducing dependency.
  • Drive adoption of reporting solutions by promoting clear, user‑focused design and delivering ongoing performance improvements.
  • Maintain critical data assets including report catalogues, data dictionaries, and business glossaries.
  • Contribute to the broader BI strategy, ensuring our reporting capabilities evolve with changing technology and business needs.
What you’ll need to do the role:
Experience:
  • 6+ years designing and delivering business intelligence solutions with measurable impact.
  • Proven track record working across operational, strategic, and corporate functions (Finance, HR, Procurement, IT).
  • Experienced in engaging stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, partners, and external clients.
Technical Expertise:
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft BI stack (Power BI, Domo, Excel, and more).
  • Familiarity with additional tools such as Qlik, Tableau, or Domo is a plus.
  • Understanding of data visualisation best practices, semantic layer design, and dashboard performance optimisation.
  • Experience with advanced analytics, data science, and big data tools is desirable.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
Soft Skills:
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
  • Self‑motivated, reliable, and detail‑oriented.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A proactive problem‑solver with a continuous improvement mindset.

This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and may require Security Check (SC) clearance.
