A leading university in the UK is seeking a Teaching Associate in Composition. The role is part-time and fixed-term, focusing on delivering innovative teaching and assessment for undergraduate students. Candidates should have a PhD in Music, with experience in composition and teaching at Higher Education level. The Department of Music at the University of Nottingham is looking to appoint a Teaching Associate in Composition.
You will have a PhD qualification or equivalent in Music, and an emerging or established career as a composer nationally and/or internationally. You will have an advanced and wide-ranging knowledge of compositional techniques and orchestration. You will have previous experience teaching composition at HE level and experience of assessment at HE level.
Your primary duties will include delivering the teaching and assessment of the following undergraduate module: Creative Orchestration (Level Two).
You will contribute to an exceptional education for undergraduates in music and make an exceptional contribution to the Department’s teaching profile and culture. You will be keen to pursue opportunities for teaching development, impact, public engagement, and/or interdisciplinary work. You will offer pastoral support to students as a Personal Tutor and be keen on championing and promoting Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives. You may be assigned administrative duties to support the teaching work of the Department.
