Qualifications

Primary Teaching Assistant

Day-to-Day, Part-Time & Full-Time Roles Available

We are looking for committed, enthusiastic, and supportive Primary Teaching Assistants to work across a variety of welcoming primary schools. Whether you're seeking flexible day-to-day work, consistent part-time hours, or a full-time long‑term position, we have opportunities to suit your availability.

About the Role

As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will support teaching and learning across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. You will work under the direction of the class teacher, helping pupils to engage, progress and develop both academically and emotionally.

Responsibilities
  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis, in small groups or across whole‑class settings
  • Assist with phonics, reading, writing and numeracy activities
  • Prepare learning resources and support classroom organisation
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help maintain routines
  • Support pupils with SEND or additional needs
  • Supervise pupils during transitions, breaktimes and activities
  • Promote independence, confidence and engagement in learning
Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (CACHE/NCFE or equivalent)
  • Recent UK school experience, ideally within a primary setting
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Desirable Experience
  • Knowledge of EYFS, KS1 or KS2 curriculum
  • Experience with phonics (e.g., RWI, Little Wandle)
  • Experience supporting SEND, EAL or behavioural needs
  • Confidence delivering small‑group interventions
