Overview

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant Level 2 to work alongside our teachers and senior leaders in delivering high quality support for all children, especially those with Special Educational Needs. The role is for the current Year 1 class. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the class teacher, but also with initiative to meet the needs of children to promote inclusion and challenge. You must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the importance of emotional wellbeing and effective communication to successful learning and be able to empathise with the children, treating them with respect and compassion whilst giving them strategies to be independent and successful in the classroom. You should have a sound knowledge of adaptive behaviour management strategies for those who need it. The successful candidate will champion our children to be academically and beyond the very best that they can be. Prior experience working in schools with children with complex SEND is a priority for this role.

  • Provide high quality support for all children, especially those with Special Educational Needs (SEND).
  • Work under the direction of the class teacher and also use own initiative to meet individual needs, promote inclusion and challenge where appropriate.
  • Support emotional wellbeing and effective communication to support successful learning.
  • Demonstrate empathy, respect and compassion, and help children develop independence and confidence in the classroom.
  • Apply adaptive behaviour management strategies as required.
