Job description

We're seeking a calm, patient Learning Support Assistant to provide consistent 1:1 support for a KS3 pupil who is currently finding school and lesson engagement challenging. The school are looking for a LSA who can build trust, reduce anxiety, and help the pupil feel emotionally safe enough to rejoin daily routines at their own pace.

This TA role is well suited to candidates from youth work, social care, counselling, behaviour support, mentoring, or those with Team Teach/positive behaviour training.

The Role
  • Offer steady, relational 1:1 support throughout the school day
  • Use calm communication to ease anxiety and encourage participation
  • Support the pupil during moments of withdrawal, refusal or overwhelm
  • Build confidence through small, achievable steps
  • Encourage school attendance, movement around the site, and gradual lesson re-engagement
  • Work closely with the family and SEN teams to provide joined-up support

  • Patient, compassionate and emotionally attuned Learning Support Assistant
  • Able to stay calm and grounded during periods of dysregulation
  • Skilled at building rapport and meeting young people at their level
  • Confident using de‑escalation and relational approaches
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
